Hernando County to require contractors to file permits online starting Nov. 1
Contractors will have to use Hernando County's Tyler portal for new permit filings beginning Nov. 1, while citizens may still submit paper applications for now.

What changes on Nov. 1
Hernando County says contractors will need to use the Tyler online permitting portal for new building permit applications and supporting documents beginning Nov. 1. The county says citizens may still submit paper permit applications for now, and the online portal will let applicants upload documents, track status and access permitting information online. What the county's current notice says
The county's contractor page already says the old portal is only for legacy permits from the previous system, and that any new permit submitted there will be denied. For contractors, that means the legacy system is not a backup for new work; the county is directing new filings to Tyler. [f4, f5, f2]
Where paper filings still go
The paper option the county mentions is for citizens, not for contractor filings. If you still need to submit paper forms, the county says they can be turned in in person or through the drop box in the Building Division lobby at 789 Providence Boulevard in Brooksville. [f3, f6, f7]
