Sunrise Hills breaks ground in Brooksville, with about 4,000 homes planned
Metro Development Group says it broke ground Oct. 14 on Sunrise Hills, a 1,100-acre community along Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville planned for roughly 4,000 families, plus a lagoon, walking trails and future shopping, dining and office space.

What changed
Metro Development Group says it broke ground Oct. 14 on Sunrise Hills, a new community in Brooksville that spans 1,100 acres along Cortez Boulevard. The company says the project is planned for roughly 4,000 families when complete.
Metro describes Sunrise Hills as more than a housing site. It says the plan includes a 2.5-acre lagoon, miles of walking trails and space for shopping, dining and office uses.
What residents can expect next
The builders named for the community are DRB Homes, D.R. Horton and Lennar. Metro says finished homesites should be delivered to builders by the end of this year.
On the community page, Metro says model homes are not yet available, but several are expected soon. That suggests buyers will need to watch for later updates before tours begin.
