Hernando County’s Water Awareness Speaker Series is scheduled for today from 10 a.m. to noon at the HCUD Administration training room, 15365 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. Today’s session is titled “Groundcover: To turf or not to turf?” and the county says people should register in advance if they plan to attend.
Why it matters
The meeting comes while Hernando County remains under a Modified Phase III “Extreme” Water Shortage. County rules now allow lawn irrigation only from midnight to 4 a.m. or from 8 p.m. to midnight on assigned watering days, and the order applies to wells, reclaimed, potable, lake and pond sources.
The county also says micro-irrigation and hand watering are limited to before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. on any day.
