Harvest Moon Fun Farm's Fall Festival Opens Today in Masaryktown With Two Corn Mazes

Harvest Moon Fun Farm's Fall Festival opens today in Masaryktown, giving Hernando County families their first shot at the season's biggest local tradition: a corn maze split into two very different challenges, one for kids and one built to actually stump adults.

The festival runs from Saturday, Sept. 26 through Nov. 8 at the farm's location at 15990 Stur St. Opening weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Starting in October, weekend hours stretch to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the farm adds weekday hours from Oct. 7 on, open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. It stays closed Mondays, with one exception: Monday, Oct. 12, when it opens 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the holiday.

Co-owner Christina Falakos designed, planted and cut this year's maze herself. She split it into two sections. Younger visitors work through a kiddie maze built around the children's book "Spookley the Square Pumpkin." Adults get a separate, harder maze with a game built in to help them find the exit, according to Falakos.

Falakos told local media outlets that watching families come through and try to conquer the maze together is the most rewarding part of running the farm each fall.

What else is open

Beyond the maze, the daytime festival includes pumpkin picking, hayrides, a petting farm, games and food. Daytime general admission is $16.95 plus tax on weekends for ages 3 and up, and $13.95 plus tax on weekdays, though the farm notes weekday visits come with limited activities and refreshments. Parking in the farm's own lot is free, though the farm warns that neighboring lots may charge.

The farm is also serving beer, wine and hard cider this season, available on weekends and during Haunted Nights.

Haunted Nights

For the after-dark crowd, Haunted Nights run Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 10 through Oct. 30, with tickets at $24.95. The farm says it will run four haunted attractions in October. Daytime activities are closed during Haunted Nights hours, so it's a separate ticket and a separate visit from the family daytime festival.

The farm has not said whether this year's maze design will change again before the season ends, but tickets and the full day-by-day calendar are posted on the farm's official fall season page.
